Even a machine that is run for too long breaks down due to over-heating or the accompanying high wear and tear. Similarly, the over-compassionate person sooner or later starts developing symptoms of this stress which has occurred at both, physical as well as the mental level.

This however, is not a suggestion to reduce compassion. This is because, what may look like stupidity and over-sensitiveness for some, could be the source of patience and perseverance for someone else.

There are scores of incidences where hope of recovery, reform or return had been given up. Yet, for the love that persisted in the heart of someone, the world would have abandoned all efforts.

Did these efforts pay any dividends? Was there any improvement?

The answer to these questions could be both in the affirmative as also in the negative. But true love, never bothers to ask these questions. It never sees the practicality of a situation nor calculates a possibility to determine the feasibility or otherwise of any efforts. Love always works by holding hope. Rather, it makes us defy logic and see hope.

When someone’s efforts towards a seemingly impossible proposition, results in success, we call it a miracle. But, is it truly a miracle or we want to call it so, just because we do not want to admit that we earlier lacked the faith or the love to work on that possibility?
